Kid Time Mayhew is a private preschool that is not only a safe place for our parents to leave their children while they go to work, but is also a Community for their families and alumni as well. Kid Time has been providing quality childcare in the Walnut Creek area since 1984.
Kid Time South is our second preschool location near downtown Walnut Creek. Set in the hills in a beautiful setting, our nature based program allows for circle time in the grove, painting under the trees and learning indoors and outdoors daily.
Our groups

Pizza Pups are our twos and young threes. Their day is comprised of lots of singing, hands on activities, and learning how to interact with others, both children and teachers! They are our youngest group, and much of their time here is spent figuring out how to be a part of a group, use their words, and transitioning from parallel play to playing with others.

Lunch Box Kids are our threes and young fours. At this age the children are learning social skills, and a large part of their time is spent negotiating during play, learning problem solving, working together, taking turns and sharing, when appropriate. The teachers spend a lot of time on one knee with this class, working out social issues with one another and assisting in the process of problem solving!

The Ruff Dogs are our fours and young fives, or pre-Kindergarteners. There is a lot more structure in their day than in the two younger groups; much focus is given to Kindergarten Readiness, while at the same time making sure that the children are enjoying their time at school.

Kid Time Junior

Kid Time Junior is a warm and loving place for our babies, toddlers and early preschoolers. Our staff spend their days engaging the children (even the littlest) in stimulating activities, art, outside time, and lots of social engagement. We have been in our current location since we opened in Fall 2021, and are now preparing to expand our center to a new location.

Our Infant Room is a cozy room with easy to clean flooring and a great space for crawlers and early walkers alike. We have cribs and cots for napping, and provide sheets for your convenience.
Our infant staff are warm, nurturing and loving. They understand that they are the surrogate adult and are here to provide cuddles, comfort and age appropriate stimulation. Daily updates are uploaded to an app for parents to stay in the loop on their little one's routines.

The Toddler/Early Preschool room is a lovely open space with plenty of activities to stimulate little brains and their development.
Small class sizes and low ratios allow the teachers to really connect with the children and to learn their patterns. This in turn helps us to meet their needs. Our toddlers are engaging in a lot of parallel play, and have varying speech levels, so we are all about letting them practice their words, and helping those who need more words as well.

Our preschool class allows children to freely explore their environment in our hands on Kid Time way. Daily circle time, hands on art, interactive activities and lots of messy fun. For pre-k, we encourage you to tour at Aftercare for a small class with low ratios!

Kid Time Aftercare

Kid Time Aftercare has several offerings!
School aged child care for Kindergarten through 5th grade with pickups from schools in Pleasant Hill.
Full day Pre-K and Kindergarten for those friends who benefit from smaller class sizes and more individualized attention. We follow MDUSD standards, but implement activities and learning in our special Kid Time way.
We are even starting a morning only 3’s class in Fall 2024!
During the summer we offer weekly summer camp for ages 4-12! Click here for a summer camp contract.
